Barak The Magic Negro

Monday, December 29, 2008 0 Comment

Recently, the majority of Americans sent a clear message to the Republican party that we reject racism, bigotry and the usual politics of fear and small minded people. This sent the Republican party into a panic and a desperate search for becoming more appealing to more than just rich white people and skinheads.

To show what the Republican party is up against, Chip Saltsman, a leading RNC chair candidate, distributed an insensitive CD as a Holiday gift which included a song called, ‘Barak the magic Negro’. This might have not been such a big deal in the media if the major bigot and ultra conservative (and drug abusing criminal) Rush Limbaugh hadn’t played it on his show. And of course, if we hadn’t just elected an African American President (and this realization also disgusts me) …

To put what the Top Republican party members seem to represent in perspective, lets look at another racist group. Remember David Duke? He is a white nationalist, former Louisiana State Representative, a perennial candidate in presidential primaries for the Democratic then Republican parties, and former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. David Duke is also a fake image of a reasonable, well dressed version of the Republican’s Young Americans group.

Behind the facade of his good looks, suits and intelligence are the slimy tendrils of hate backed by a horde of cross burning, intolerant murdering scum. And David Duke has used these people to promote his message of fear of non-whites that (in his twisted view) are taking over the world.

To be clear about this, David Duke’s, Rush Limbaugh’s and other racist’s base of followers can be easily picked out of society by their use of racial jokes, songs and sayings that belittle and make fun of groups of people that are different than them in some way. The color of someone’s skin or race and religion are enough for these people to trigger their superiority complex.

In this latest news about the Republican party, we also get to see inside the “back rooms” of it’s top members, and what’s showing is the same old racist garbage hiding behind the image of tolerance and acceptable behavior.

With this brief glimpse of the beast behind the Republican image comes the strong suspicion that the Republicans are not trying to change or move away from it’s red meat base of bigots, it’s simply trying to put a nice, shiny face on the same old pile of reeking garbage, and the buzzing flies keep giving the scam away.

Of course, the top Republicans will do damage control to preserve the image of a changing party, and squish this cockroach, but as everyone knows, if you kill one cockroach, there are still thousands more hiding somewhere in the dark places.
