An overactive bladder is the sudden contraction of the muscular walls of the bladder, causing one to have the urgent need to want to urine. It is a condition, where you find yourself hurrying off to the toilet every couple of minutes. It is also very common in old people, but can happen to anyone. However it should not be accepted as a natural condition to develop. An overactive bladder can also be referred to as incontinence.

It is a very embarrassing condition, and those who have it may become withdrawn and isolated. Symptoms And Causes Of A Over Active Bladder

The symptoms may be-

* the sudden urge to urinate.

* an involuntary loss of urine.

* getting up in the middle of the night to urinate 2 or more times.

* urinating more than 8 times in a 24 hour day.

* Rashes in the pelvic region.

You may receive rehabilitation of the pelvic muscles, to strengthen the muscles and prevent leakages or lost of control. This could be the over active bladder treatment for you. It includes-

* Kegel exercises- Is a regular daily exercise of the pelvic muscles by contracting and then relaxing the muscles. This is a common exercise practiced by pregnant women.

* Vaginal weight training – This is where small weights are held within the vagina by tightening the vagina muscles.

* Medication – You can be treated with medication such as Ditropan or Detrol. This is as easy as getting your doctor to write a prescription.

* Surgery
