How To Get Your Children To Eat More Healthily And Have Fun As Well

More of us are becoming better educated about what we eat and what we feed our family. Many of the major fast food companies are now having to look at the way they market their products and what ingredients these products contain as more and more people turn their back on fast food. At the moment we, as the human race, are in a strange type of limbo period where the fat people of the world seem to be getting fatter and more content than ever to eat junk food whereas the everyday man in the street is getting leaner and fitter due to being better educated about the food that they consume, overall though we are getting fatter as a race mainly down to the amount of children who have extremely poor diets that consist of virtually nothing more than convenience processed food and junk fast food. The responsibility for this increase in the amount of children who are obese lay firmly with the parents of these children, parents who have or take no responsibility towards their children's well being. So what can be done to make it easier for parents to ensure that they feed their children correctly?

Many governments around the world are now becoming more aware of the affect that this increase in obese children is having on society, an obese child is more than likely to become an obese adult and the more obese adults that there are in society the bigger the burden on the health care system in later life. Governments across the globe now have rules and regulations in place to ensure that fast food companies do not target their advertising at young children which in the past they have been able to do. More and more schools are now also offering a healthy school dinner option rather than the cheaper junk food option which in many cases used to be the only option that was open to children.

Studies have found that as well as the associated health risks with being over weight your child is more likely to get better grades at school and have a better concentration span as well as be better behaved if they eat a healthy balanced diet throughout the week, which is easy to do than you may think and can even be educational for your child.

In a bid to get children eating correctly certain schools are educating children how to grow their own vegetables in the hope that they will take what they have learned home with them and encourage their parents to grow fruit and vegetables at home. All you need to grow you own vegetables are some space in your garden where you can sow your chosen seeds, some sunlight, water and a bit of patience. When the seeds start to show through you may need to thin them out a little or replant a few of them elsewhere to ensure that all of the plants have enough space to grow in as well as keeping an eye out for pests that may eat your plants.

To help your plants grow it is recommended to use organic compost as a fertilizer that will provide the plants with all of the nutrients that they need to survive. Organic compost is very easy to make so you do not need to buy any, it is simply made by putting all of your kitchen and green garden waste, such as grass trimmings into a bin or a pen and letting nature do its work by decomposing the waste into good organic compost. You can add worms to your organic compost if you like as this will speed up the process.

There are many benefits of making your own organic compost for use on your garden, you cut down on the amount of household waste that you throw away into the trash each week as much of your household waste is green food that can go on the compost and another benefit is that you do not have to use any chemical fertilizer in the process of growing your own vegetables giving you a tasty organic crop.

Growing your own vegetables and making your own organic compost is something that all of the family can get involved in and together you can reap the rewards of growing healthy fruit and vegetables and giving your children a better diet, helping them to do better at school and lead a healthier life.
