Self-regulation refers to the ability to focus attention and control behavior. Similarly, self-regulation is focused on the ability of an individual or a child to regulate him or herself through private speech. He must be able comprehend what is asked of him in a given task or situation.
Self-regulation refers to the ability to focus attention and control behavior. Similarly, self-regulation is focused on the ability of an individual or a child to regulate him or herself through private speech. He must be able comprehend what is asked of him in a given task or situation. The individual must also be able to monitor his behaviors to see if there is coordination with the given task at hand. In doing so, that individual must be able to maintain or avert what he is doing based on his own judgments.

Further, self-regulation is important in school and teachers are the first to acknowledge this. A self regulated student can stay in his designated area and focus on the task given to him by the teachers. He is capable to pay attention when the teacher is discussing or reading aloud without losing the attention focused on the teacher, especially to the learning process the student experiences. Moreover, self-regulation allows the student to be productive, busy accomplishing his lessons even when the teacher is preoccupied with other children.
